In the north of Düsseldorf lies the oldest and for many also the most beautiful part of the city. A walk through the alleys of this small village directly on the Rhine is always worthwhile. It tells the story of mankind from its beginnings in the African savannahs more than four million years ago to the present day. 1856 site of discovery (uncovered again) and namesake of the Neanderthal.
Permanent and special exhibitions, on-site gastronomy, large playgrounds and picnic areas. Next door is the Ice Age game preserve with replicas of prehistoric aurochs, bison and tarpan wild horses.
Many hiking trails around the enclosures very close to the animals.

Zons at the Rhein, formerly called Zollfeste Zons, is a medieval town with an almost completely preserved fortification from the 14th century and a 600-year-old windmill. Historic restaurants and cafes, district museum, open-air stage.

Ten walk-in exhibition pavilions with works of modern and contemporary art as well as sculptures and artifacts from the Asian and African regions in a landscape conservation area of meadows and old trees. In the cafeteria, a seasonally changing buffet from ecological cultivation is also offered to take away into nature. This is included in the entrance fee.
